Friends of St German’s Church – Constitution 

 

1. Name 

The organisation shall be known as The Friends of St German’s Church, Cardiff. 

 

2. Purpose 

The Friends exist to support the preservation, enhancement, beautification, and heritage of St German’s Church and its grounds, and to encourage wider community involvement in caring for the building. 

 

3. Aims 

  • To raise funds for projects that maintain, improve, or enrich the church’s fabric, furnishings, and environment. 

  • To promote the heritage, music, and community life of St German’s. 

  • To foster fellowship among members, supporters, and the wider community. 

  • To work collaboratively with the church Committee to ensure all projects comply with Church in Wales regulations. 

 

4. Membership 

Annual subscription:

A minimum of £60.00, payable either as a single payment (Cash or Bank Transfer) or by Direct Debit at £5 per calendar month.

The “Friends” Committee sets the amount of the annual subscription and reviewed and was agreed at its meeting on Sunday 26th July 2026 

 

5. Committee 

The Friends shall elect a Committee consisting of: 

  • Chair 

  • Secretary 

  • Treasurer 

  • Up to four additional members The Incumbent (or nominee) shall serve ex officio. 

 

The committee is elected on a triennial basis the next one due in 2028 

 

6. Meetings 

An Annual General Meeting shall be held each year. Additional meetings may be called as required. 

 

7. Finance 

Funds shall be used solely for the purposes outlined in Section 2. Accounts will be maintained by the Treasurer, independently examined annually, and presented at the AGM. 

 

8 Relationship with the Church Committee  

Whilst “The Friends” is independent and separate from St German’s Church Committee, it will consult on matters relating to the church’s fabric, heritage, and development. 

 

9 For the avoidance of doubt, the Friends of St German’s is an independent organisation with its own membership, officers, and committee, and is not in any way accountable to the Roath and Cathays Ministry Area Council or the Diocese of Llandaff. All decisions, finances, and governance of the Friends shall remain the responsibility of its own committee, subject to this Constitution and applicable charity regulations. 

 

10. GDPR Clause for the Constitution  

“The Friends of St German’s” shall ensure that all personal data relating to members, volunteers, donors, and event attendees is collected, stored, and used securely and lawfully in accordance with UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018.”
